The Iola school district has announced that it will be dismissing classes for the day at 11 a.m. because of a power outage.

Buses will run starting at 11:30 a.m., and children that cannot get home will be held at their campus for pickup.

Parents are asked to make arrangement to pick up children as soon as possible.

The Entergy website reported 1,865 customers were without power Monday morning, including Iola, North Zulch and Normangee residents. The outage started just before 9 a.m.

Crews were on site and making repairs, and power was expected to be restored at 2 p.m.
