U.S. Rep. Bill Flores of Bryan announced on Monday the names of 20 area veterans who will be recognized with a Congressional Veterans Commendation.

Presentation of the awards, which recognize veterans for their military and community service, will come later.

It is the eighth year Flores has recognized the service of local veterans, who are selected through community nominations.

Recipients of the commendation receive a challenge coin, a certificate of recognition and a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor on Veterans Day.

Of the 20 award recipients from Flores’ district, 12 are from Bryan-College Station.

The 2019 Congressional Veterans Commendation recipients, with their branch of service and years served are:
