A tractor-trailer hauling refrigerated meats caught fire alongside Texas 6 in Robertson County near Bremond on Friday, causing traffic delays but no injuries.

According to Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak, first responders were dispatched just before 4 p.m. to the northbound shoulder of Texas 6, near the intersection of Texas 14. The trailer of a refrigerated tractor-trailer hauling pork had caught fire. The truck driver pulled off and separated the trailer from the cab before flames could spread, he said.

Northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed as firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours. Yezak said an initial investigation showed the fire may have started from heat from the vehicle’s brakes.

No injuries were reported.
