Two people were killed in separate collisions Thursday along Texas 105 in Grimes County.

According to Sgt. Jimmy Morgan of the Texas Department of Public Safety, first responders were dispatched to eastbound Texas 105 just east of Plantersville around 6 a.m. after two vehicles collided head on. Authorities believe a pickup driven by Andrew Young, 27, of Waller, was eastbound and attempted to pass a dump truck in a no-passing zone. He was hit head-on by a westbound pickup driven by a 58-year-old Montgomery man, who received non-life-threatening injuries. Young was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers reopened Texas 105 around 9 a.m. Officials said at 9:20 a.m., Kayleen Pawlak, 35, of College Station was a few miles west of the initial collision site and hit the back of a van driven by a 43-year-old Bryan man, who received minor injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accidents remain under investigation.
