Jones Crossing HEB accident

College Station police are responding to a three vehicle accident in front of the H-E-B on Wellborn Road.

A city of College Station employee was critically injured Thursday in a three-vehicle accident on Wellborn Road near the Jones Crossing H-E-B.

The accident involved a garbage truck and two cars and happened around 10:45 a.m.

Police said as garbage truck was stopped in the northbound lane of Wellborn Road to empty a trash can, a sport utility vehicle slowed behind it and was hit by a car, causing the SUV to flip and land on its roof.

The car then struck the garbage truck and the truck's driver, who had gotten out of the truck.

Police said the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The northbound lanes of Wellborn Road from Navarro Drive to Balcones Drive will be closed for approximately three hours for accident reconstruction.
