March 28, 1938 - May 24, 2019
Net W. Miller was born March 28, 1938 and his Heavenly Birthday was on May 24, 2019.
Net lived his dream with a simple life that was full of joy and love. His favorite moments were sitting with the love of his life, Connie, watching the sunrise on the back porch with a hot cup of coffee, a smile on his face, and a cat on his lap. Later, this strong, gentle giant turned that lap into a soft place for his precious, perfect grandchildren to land.
After graduating from Brookesmith High School where he played 6 man football (both ways), Net proudly served in the United States Army. Net eventually settled in Hearne and became a certified welder at Hearne GATX where he was recognized for his work ethics, his reliability and willingness to assist or teach others, he was known as a quiet, strong and thoughtful leader.
He received the 1994 GATX Employee of the Year Award. He retired in 1999 and became a member of the GATX Retirees Club. Net was also a member of the Hearne Church of Christ.
In 2018 he was awarded with the "Brookesmith High School Coming Home King". Net was a proud American and native Texan, a natural man whose favorite place was with nature and the peace it o?ered. Net loved life and the challenge of making and developing a patch of land into a producing ranch properly named N&C Miller Ranch with registered Limousine cattle. One of his favorite sayings was "a new calf and a good rain are always welcome at this ranch."
Of all the proud moments in Net's life, one of his very proudest was when he watched his daughter, Gina, graduate from Texas A&M University.
He served the Lord by generously, giving to others and by sharing his skills of "fixin" or replacing things. He provided neighbors and loved ones with his garden produce that grew from a small plot to almost an acre. He was always available to help family and friends. His mother once said, "Net has been helping people since he was three years old."
The Lord said to Net as he entered Heaven, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
Net was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Alleen Henderson Miller; brothers, Wade and L.W. Miller; sisters, Lorena Tinney and Glenda Jones.
Net is held in loving memory by his wife, Connie (Hearne); his daughters, Gina Miller (College Station); Margie and Jeff Novak and their sons, Nicholas and Nathan (Round Rock); Rhonda Kay and Dr. Scott Stafford and their children, Harrison and Lauren (San Antonio). Surviving sisters are, Jerri Stripling, Jimmie Page and Jackie Ripkowski; sister in-law, Mary Ann Miller. His special friends, Monroe Jatzlau, Bart Lockhart and Cecil Lockhart; and many other friends and relatives will miss this legendary, wonderful man.
His family is deeply grateful for the love and support extended to the Miller Family during this time. Memorial Services are provided by Memorial Funeral Home at the Hearne Church of Christ, 1201 Live Oak St., Hearne, Texas. Visitation begins at 10 AM with Memorial Services at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019.
