A College Station woman was arrested at Lake Bryan over the weekend after a personal watercraft accident that seriously injured her passenger, officials said.

According to the police report, 49-year-old Heather Anne Alderete flipped a personal watercraft Saturday just before 4 p.m., causing her and her passenger to fly off.

The passenger was treated at a hospital for four broken ribs, according to the police report. Alderete declined medical treatment, according to the report.

Alderete admitted to drinking two beers several hours prior to the accident and taking hydrocodone right before going out on the personal watercraft, according to the officer’s report.

She was charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Alderete was released from the Brazos County Jail on Sunday after posting $8,000 bail.
