A Texas A&M history major from New Jersey has died as a result of injuries suffered in a major crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in central College Station.
Following a two-vehicle collision, which took place at the intersection of Wellborn Road and Holleman Drive during lunchtime on Saturday, three people were hospitalized. One of those individuals, 22-year-old Texas A&M student Nathan Matos of New Jersey, died.
According to The Battalion, Matos was a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Matos was driving a vehicle eastbound on Holleman Drive just before 1 p.m. Saturday, with a fellow 22-year-old Texas A&M student from Dallas riding as a passenger. Their vehicle stopped at a traffic light, waiting to turn left onto Wellborn Road.
A vehicle being driven by another 22-year-old Texas A&M student from College Station was traveling south on Wellborn Road when the unit left the road, crashing into Matos’ stationary vehicle.
Matos’ passenger and the driver of the second vehicle both were injured. The second driver was treated and released from a local hospital. Matos’ passenger still is receiving medical care at an area hospital.
