BROWNSVILLE - Police officers and federal agents fatally shot a teenage car theft suspect during a chase that ended at the B&M International Bridge.

Edgar Ivan Lopez, 17, was pronounced dead early Saturday after being shot multiple times inside the stolen white Chevrolet Suburban he was driving, officials said.

Lopez, who had recently moved from Atlanta, wasn't armed, leaving his family asking questions about the shooting.

"We are outraged for the way the kid was shot," Lopez's uncle Ovidio Serrato said in Spanish. "There are ways to detain an unarmed juvenile."
