February 26, 1951 - September 25, 2019

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019 Milton Bruce Gates of Bryan ended his own life, leaving behind his family and friends much too soon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His family and everyone who knew him will miss him terribly.

For most of his life, Milton lived in Bryan and worked in Bryan, Navasota, and Brenham and no matter where he lived, Bryan was home.

Milton is survived by his wife, Denise; by his daughter, Catherine O'Neill; his son-in-law, Chris; and his granddaughter, Cate (6); by his son, Robert Gates; his daughter-in-law, Jenny; his grandson, Cooper (1); and his granddaughter (coming soon); by his younger brother, Keith; his sister-in-law, Betsy; his nephew, Travis; and his twin niece and nephew, Ginger and Autrey; by his stepdaughter, Melisa Chambers; her husband, Beau; and their son, Jake (3); and by his stepdaughter, Cerisa Brooke; and her husband, John Beau.

A "Maroon Out" Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, at First United Methodist Church in downtown Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to support the Texas A&M HelpLine (Office of Suicide Awareness and Prevention) be sent to the Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840. Please designate in memory of Milton Gates.
