November 7, 1923 - October 19, 2015
On November 7, 1923 Ernesto Gomez was born in Gay Hill, Texas to Adolfo and Cesaria (Ortega) Gomez. He was born into a farming family and was instilled a strong work ethic at a young age. He was a devoted Catholic who had a jovial personality and will always be cherished for his capability to always make other's laugh. Ernesto went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2015.
He celebrated 91 beautiful years with his beloved family and friends. Words used to describe and remember Ernesto: playful, faithful, and amiable. He was also known for his love for work and being a clown who loved to tell his jokes and dance around. He adored making other's laugh, for it was something that brought him happiness to himself.
Ernesto was never idle; he was always on the go and it was not rare for one to find him displaying random acts of kindness to friends and strangers. His love for work played into the roll for finding joy in helping others. Ernesto's self-discipline and drive to complete tasks made him a noble worker. When in Oregon, he worked as a Lumberjack. Then, Ernesto got a job with the Santa Fe Rail Road Company fixing tracks. He took great pride in this company and worked with them until it was time to retire. While working for the Rail Road, Ernesto also got a job at Texas A&M University doing something he had great passion for; gardening. Ernesto definitely contributed to doing his fair share in making this world a beautiful place.
Ernesto loved his family and friends. He enjoyed his walks through town; especially to Lemon Tree Park. Ernesto was a simple man who found great pleasure in the smallest things. He was a great story teller, always entertaining those in the community that became his family. His sweet and generous presence will be one that will always be remembered.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ernesto Gomez's life on Sunday, October 25th from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street in Bryan. All are invited to join together as a community at 6:00 PM, kneeling in humbleness before God, occupying their voices, minds, hearts, and bodies by praying the Rosary to ask for God's Grace.
A Life Celebration and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Santa Theresa Catholic Church, 1212 Lucky Street, Bryan. Final commendation and blessing will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bryan.
