September 6, 1937 - June 30, 2019

James Fredrick Rose was born September 6, 1937 in Yorktown,Texas to Linson Miller and Willie Bernice Rose. He was the second child of three children.

James passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends.

James funeral services are to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church located in Bryan, Texas with the Pastor Lawrence J. Hicks, officiant and eulogist.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5, with a wake service that followed from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Daniel & Son Funeral Home.

Interment will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 2:30p.m., in LaGrange, Texas at Memorial Community Cemetery also known as, Bethlehem A.M.E Church Cemetery.

James attended Yorktown Elementary School and Solomon Melvin Cole Junior and Senior High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Education from Huston-Tillotson University and his Master's degree from Texas A & M University.

James confessed his love for Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at the Greater Tabernacle Baptist church until his health failed and he was no longer able to attend.

James started teaching Mathematics in Caldwell, Texas in 1969 and later transferred to Bryan I.S.D. where he taught a total of 37 years. Of those 37 years he was a teacher, an Assistant Principal, and a Principal, all within the Bryan District. He taught at Hamilton State School for five years and the Math Lab at Texas A & M University for eight years.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward Lee Rose; and daughter-in-law, Liza Rose.

James leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 38 years, Lorine Johnson Rose; one son, Edward Lee Rose of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Margaret Summers (Al) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Judy McKeage (Clyde) of Lansing, Illinois, and Jessicia Williams (Dwalyn) of Bryan; one brother, Frank Louis Marshall; and one step-sister, Floristyne Mackey both of the Houston area; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
