John George Sinko Jr., 88, of Bryan, went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 25, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Rest-Ever Memorial Park. Hillier Funeral, Cremation and Bereavement Specialists have been entrusted to his care.
John was born on May 20, 1925 to John and Anna (Farkas) Sinko in Aultman Village, Ohio. John owned and operated an airplane machine shop in Long Beach where he made the “Black Box” for airplanes and parts for the space shuttles. He received an award from President Ronald Reagan for these projects. John lived in Long Beach for most of his life before moving to Bryan upon retirement. He loved spending time with his family and his poodles. John was also an avid painter who had a passion for flying, fishing, and camping at Big Bear Lake in California.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Athena (Ann) Sinko; parents, John and Anna Sinko; siblings Joe and Emma and sister-in-law Barbara Lightfoot
John leaves behind his son, Ron Sinko of Bryan; brother-in-law, Bill Lightfoot and many nieces, nephews and friends.
