September 8, 1953 - September 28, 2019

John Timothy "Tim" Trainor, 66, of Albuquerque, New Mexico left us too soon the weekend of September 28, 2019 at his home. Memorial services will be at noon on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the University of New Mexico Alumni Memorial Chapel in Albuquerque. A private family memorial will take place in Texas during December.

Tim was born on September 8, 1953. He was loved and raised by John and Martha Trainor mainly in Artesia, NM. Tim enjoyed flying and earned his pilot's license as a teen, before he received his driver's license. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1971 and received degrees as a member of the Class of 1981 and the Class of 1988 from University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He loved his work as an Electrical Engineer and lived the rest of his life in Albuquerque. Tim dearly loved his daughters and found an additional family in his co-workers and team members at his place of work in Albuquerque.

As a true lifelong learner, Tim was an avid reader and a strong proponent of civil rights. He was a man of varied interests, loving military and aviation history, jazz and classic rock music, Quentin Tarantino movies, and modern art. Tim was also a talented portrait sculptor. His vivid stories and southernisms will live forever in our hearts.

In recent years, Tim spent several happy Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with his brother, his nieces and nephews and his extended family. He hosted some of his great-nephews and a great-niece for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta as they each reached school age. Many of the nieces and nephews remember receiving birthday and Christmas packages from Uncle Tim with great excitement, because of his ability to choose the most unique and perfect gift. His dry wit and quirky humor will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Trainor, and his mother, Martha Ann Middleton Trainor; and one brother, Charles Trainor. Tim's beloved Labrador, Jib, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Lindsey Trainor of North Carolina and Leah Trainor of Albuquerque; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sandra Trainor of College Station; nieces, Amie Michelle Trainor Jones and husband, Scotty, of Hurst, Texas, Sandi Trainor Moore and husband, Thomas, of San Antonio, Texas, and Chelsea Denning and husband, Jordan, of College Station, Texas; nephew, Bill Trainor and wife, Mary, of Covington, Texas; great-nephews and great-nieces, Blake, Allyssa, and Andrew Jones, Trace and Brayden Moore, Jaxon, Cade and Emelia Denning, and Will and Wyatt Trainor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Humane New Mexico or the charity of your choice.
