July 3, 1926 - March 19, 2018

With great sadness Marjorie "Billie" Whitten passed away March 19, 2018 at the age of 91. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.

She will be forever remembered by her husband, Jim Whitten; her children, Glenn (Cheryl) Miears, Ted (Connie) Miears, Gail (Deceased) (Bob) Winter; stepchildren, Lee Ann VanAmburgh, Lauri Butler, and Jon Whitten; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was born in Jackson, MS and grew up in New Orleans, LA. In 1945, Marjorie married Roy Jean Miears and raised three children (Glenn, Ted and Gail) in Crowley LA and Bryan TX. Following Roy Jean's death in 1966, Marjorie became a successful business owner through the ownership of several Merle Norman studios in Austin, Texas.

She married Jim Whitten on February 8, 1981, and they enjoyed a full life in Austin, Texas. In the last several years Marjorie enjoyed making friends by greeting dogs (and giving each one a treat) and visiting with their owners while sitting on her driveway. She also enjoyed traveling with Jim on some of his closer business trips. Additionally, she also made herself available to give business advice to Jim; sometimes the advice was even solicited. She and Jim also enjoyed giving gifts to people in local hospitals. Marjorie also endeared herself to Jim by laughing at his many jokes, especially over lunch at Jack Allen's Kitchen.

Per Billie's request, no memorial service is planned but please make donations to Austin Pets Alive, 1156 W. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, TX 78703. austinpetsalive.org

Crematory services provided by Beck Funeral Home, 1507 Ranch Road 620, Austin, Texas.
