Letters to the Editor

Prefer the America we enjoyed in the 1950s and 1960s

I have to take exception with the editorial on Sunday, that we should move on after the Mueller Report. With Trump at the helm, that move would be away from our revered America toward a banana republic with him as emperor.

He ignores the Constitution, ignores supporting the country, and ignores our people and only encourages helping those who help him. I'm sure Abraham Lincoln would be mystified by Republicans led by Trump.

We need to move ahead to protect our elections and to force candidates to report contacts with foreign officials, not Trump's encouraging foreign help and money contributed to him.

We also need to return to presidents who honor and defend the Constitution rather than ignore it; who defend the country rather than isolate us from former allies; and ignore those who need our help rather than save greatly reduce taxes of the well-to-do and corporations.

I greatly prefer the American community and unity of the 1950s and 1960s. Bring back the United States of America!
