Texas A&M decathlete Nathan Hite was awarded a $10,000 scholarship by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which awards 126 such scholarships annually to student-athletes who excel athletically and academically.

Hite graduated with a 3.97 GPA in mechanical engineering and was named the SEC McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of Year, which also came with a postgraduate scholarship. He won the decathlon at the Texas Relays with a career-best 7,774 points, claimed the SEC decathlon title (7,468) and earned second-team All-America honors by placing 13th in the decathlon with 7,348 points at the NCAA championships.

Next month Hite will compete in his fourth decathlon of the season as a member of the United States team competing in the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.
