Texas A&M men’s swimmer Shaine Casas was named to USA Swimming’s 18 & under team for the Mare Nostrum on Friday.

Casas is one of 41 junior swimmers selected to compete in two international events. The Mare Nostrum will take place in Canet-en Roussillon, France, from June 11-12 and Barcelona, Spain, from June 15-16.

Casas is coming off a standout freshman campaign, becoming the third A&M freshman to score in individual events at the NCAA Championships and the first to do it in individual events (200-yard individual medley and 200 butterfly). He was named honorable mention All-American in the 200 IM and earned SEC all-freshman status in the 200 backstroke.
