Former Texas A&M sophomore forward John Walker III will continue his men’s college basketball career at Texas Southern, Walker said via Twitter on Tuesday.

“It’s been a crazy couple of months, but through it all God, my family, and my girlfriend have kept me level,” the tweet read. “With that being said, I’m proud to announce that I will be returning to my city and continue my basketball career for the historic Texas Southern University.”

The Fort Bend Marshall graduate announced he would transfer from A&M in a tweet on May 13, saying he’ll “never forget what this university has done for me.”

As a freshman, Walker played in 30 games for the Aggies, averaging 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds. The high mark of his short stint with the Aggies was an 11-point performance against UC Irvine on Nov. 19.

A&M lost to Texas Southern 88-73 last season, with Walker collecting four rebounds in 13 minutes.

“Welcome aboard and we’re excited about the future with you a part of the TSU family,” head coach Johnny Jones tweeted Tuesday.
