MAGNOLIA — Braden Brashear completed 18 of 26 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns — all three in the second quarter — to lead the Cameron football team past Diboll 21-6 on Friday in the Class 3A Division I area playoffs at Magnolia West’s Mustang Stadium.

Diboll took a 6-0 lead on Darius McMillan’s 2-yard touchdown run with 3:19 left in the first quarter.

The Yoemen (11-1) answered with a scoring flurry in the second quarter. Brashear hit Kobe Young for an 18-yard TD pass less than two minutes into the quarter, and Axel Martinez’s extra-point kick gave Cameron a 7-6 lead. After a quick turnover, Brashear found Zakorien Spikes on a 35-yard TD pass, then just over three minutes later, Brashear and Spikes again hooked up on a 20-yard TD pass for a 21-6 lead.

Cameron’s defense did the rest, setting up a regional round matchup against Grandview at 1 p.m. Friday at Waco ISD Stadium.

Spikes caught five passes for 160 yards.

McMillan led Diboll’s offense with 151 yards on 31 carries.
