I voted Texas A&M 15th in my Associated Press Top 25 poll this week. The Aggies are among about 16 teams from eighth to 24th that have little separation. I have Florida eighth on the strength of victories over Miami and Kentucky, but the Aggies might be better than the Gators. Could Florida stay within 14 points of Clemson? I doubt it.

A&M has the chance to move up a couple spots this week if it can beat Auburn. I don’t think Auburn is a Top 10 team, but I’m in the minority. I’m one of only eight voters who didn’t have the Tigers in the Top 10. If A&M could win by double digits, it could even leapfrog some fellow one-loss teams.

Thirteen voters have A&M ranked 17th, which is where it landed. Another 10 have them ranked lower.

Here’s my Top 25 ballot this week:

1 Clemson

2 Alabama

3 Oklahoma

4 Georgia

5 Ohio State

6. LSU

7. Notre Dame

8. Florida

9. Michigan

10. Texas

11. Utah

12. Auburn

13. UCF

14. Wisconsin

15. Texas A&M

16. Oregon

17. Penn State

18. Iowa

19. Boise State

20. Washington State

21. California

22. Washington

23 Arizona State

24. Virginia

25. Minnesota

26. BYU

27. Kansas State

28. TCU

29. Memphis

30. Wake Forest

A&M is a 3.5-point favorite over Auburn. The line opened at 4.  That’s interesting because a year ago Auburn opened as a six-point pick and it was down to 4 by Saturday and the Tigers rallied for a 28-24 victory as Vegas basically hit it right on the money. (I’m sure there were casinos that had it a 3.5 or 4.5).

Vegas has been good setting a line on the Aggies so far this season. They were a 33.5-point favorite over Texas State and won 41-7.  Clemson was a 17.5-point favorite and the Tigers won 24-10.

Vegas didn’t have a line on the Lamar game because Lamar is an FCS team but, had A&M a 44.5-point favorite and the Aggies won 62-3. You can see why Vegas doesn’t handle those type of games.

A couple other interesting lines are Georgia is a 13-point point over Notre Dame and Wisconsin is a three-point pick over Michigan.
