SAN ANTONIO — Hearne’s defense held on downs at its own 25-yard line late in the game to help the Eagles seal a 41-36 victory over the Brackett Tigers in the Class 2A Division I bi-district playoffs Friday at Wheatley Heights Stadium.

Damion Dunn racked up 303 total yards as the Eagles outgained Brackett 431-344. Dunn rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, had 121 receiving yards and a TD on three catches and threw for 133 yards and two scores on 4-of-7 passing. Dunn also added six tackles and two TFLs on defense.

Quarterback Micah Smith completed 7 of 11 passes for 188 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Jalen Gonzales had four catches for 144 yards and three TDs.

Hearne (7-4) advances to play Shiner at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Sealy.

Hearne’s leads at the end of the first three quarters were 21-14, 28-22 and 35-30.
