CAYUGA — Centerville’s defense came up with three turnovers and held the Cayuga Wildcats to 119 yards as the Tigers opened District 9-2A-I play with a 26-6 victory Friday night.

Centerville, which had last week’s game against San Augustine canceled because of weather, built a 14-6 halftime lead as Caidenn Boss scored on a 19-yard run and fellow senior Bryson Crowley added a 14-yard touchdown run.

In the second half, freshman Paxton Hancock scored on runs of 10 and 25 yards for the Tigers (2-3, 1-0).

Centerville junior Clayton Bell and senior Cannon Robinson each had interceptions as Cayuga (2-4, 0-1) completed only three of 10 passes for 51 yards and was held to 68 yards rushing on 33 carries.

Boss with 123 yards rushing on 20 carries had more yards than Cayuga and Hancock added 40 yards on five carries.
