NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Texas A&M’s No. 45 Valentin Vacherot won two matches Friday to advance to the men’s singles semifinals at the ITA National Fall Championships at The Tennis Club.

Vacherot led Baylor’s No. 44 Svan Lah 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 when Lah retired, then he beat Southern California’s No. 8 Daniel Cukierman 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Vacherot will face Texas’ No. 4 Yaya Ito in the semifinals Saturday.

A&M’s No. 16 Hady Habib reached the quarterfinals but lost to Notre Dame’s No. 43 Richard Ciamarra 7-6 (5), 6-3.
