Week 11 proved to be action-packed as several teams clinched district championships or playoff berths in the final games of the regular season. Here are the nominations for Brazos Valley Player of the Week. Voting closes at 4 p.m. Monday.
Caidenn Boss, Centerville, sr., RB/LB
Boss rumbled for 259 yards and two TDs on 25 carries, helping the Tigers claim the District 9-2A Division I championship with a 30-22 win over Leon. The senior also added six tackles, two TFLs, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup on defense.
Eric Goodman, A&M Consolidated, jr., DT
Goodman was in the backfield all night in a 62-3 victory over Cleveland. The junior defensive tackle had 16 tackles, two TFLs and a sack and forced fumble, which led directly to a touchdown as the Tigers clinched the outright 10-5A Division II crown and wrapped up an undefeated regular season.
Bryce Steel, Brazos Christian, sr., QB
Steel completed 27 of 40 passes for 395 yards and five touchdowns in the Eagles’ 62-32 win over Magnolia Legacy Prep Christian. The senior signal-caller also added 24 rushing yards and a TD.
Cam’ron Valdez, Rockdale, jr., RB
Valdez again showed off his explosiveness with 13 carries for 206 yards and three scores to help Rockdale to a 53-7 win over Little River Academy.
Kobe Young, Cameron, sr., WR
The Yoemen took to the air in a 45-35 win over Lago Vista, and Young was a key cog in the effort, hauling in seven catches for 217 yards and two TDs. The scoring receptions came on plays of 88 and 51 yards.
