The Texas Longhorn softball players who will participate in this weekend's NCAA tournament's College Station Regional had no frame of reference on what it is like playing in Aggieland.
The last time the Longhorns ventured into Aggieland was 2012.
So, in preparation for the 12th Man, Longhorn head coach Connie Clark said they spent the last few days reviewing the rivalry during practice.
"I've been through the rivalry a lot for several years," Clark said. "Trying to explain it to this group since they haven't been through it, we tried to simulate that as best in practice, but you never know until your in the middle of it. I don't care how well you try to simulate that in practice. We tried to get them bits of information of what's coming.
"Try to tune out the crowd as much as we can, because I'm sure the Aggies, specifically, will try to have a little bit of fun with us. I don't' think that changes, regardless of the last time we were here."
When asked if those bits of information included playing the Aggie War Hymn during a practice in Austin, Clark remained vague with a wry smile.
"We mixed things up a little bit."
